Awareness camp on financial inclusion conducted at Talui village

A one-day awareness camp on financial inclusion was conducted at Talui village on March 26.The awareness camp was attended by more than 120 villagers.
Village acting Headman, Kc Luithuk along with Reisang Kachui, president, Talui Katamnao Long, Kahangpam Vashum, president, Talui Reisang Youth Club and Peace Vashum, accountant, Talui Baptist Church also attended the camp as resource persons.
It may be mentioned that the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (meity) has selected Talui village as the first and only "Digital Village" in Ukhrul District.
Village Level Entrepreneur (VLE), Vareiwung Rungsung, who is also running a Common Service Centre (CSC) said that the awareness camp was conducted to improve the financial literacy of the villagers and also to make them aware of the various digital finance services available to them.
He said that the purpose of setting up a digital village was to improve the savings of the people in rural areas in the absence of proper banking facilities.
Rungsung also said that different schemes like the PM-SYM which allows even the non-Govt employees to avail pension benefits, PM-JAY which enables the poor families to avail free health care and many other services are available to the villagers through the CSC.
He expressed gratitude to the State Head CSC, e-Governace Society India Ltd and DM, Ukhrul District for organising the awareness camp in Talui village.
