Kangpokpi, March 29 2019:
Enraged by the negligence of the concerned authority for almost 30 years, a resident of Keithelmanbi (Military Colony) asked the Government and the concerned authority to take away I-beams also known as H-beams dumped inside his garden in 1990 and demanded handsome compensation for wasting his bamboo farm till date, report our correspondent.
Four I-beams measuring approximately 20 to 25 feet each were seen dumped and unattended inside a bamboo farm of Paolun Kuki of Keithelmanbi (Military Colony) occupying almost all the bamboo farm near Gungal river while another I-beam which was seen cut into two pieces inside the river and another half below Keithelmanbi bridge over Gungal river, it added.
It was learnt that the I-beams were used for constructing Diversion Bridge over Gungal river in 1990 after the bridge made by British over the same river was damaged.
However, when a devastated flood occurred in the same year, the diversion bridge was also damaged and the I-beams used for supporting the diversion bridge were dumped inside the compound of Paolun Kuki which remained unattended till today.
Speaking to media persons, Paolun Kuki said that these I-Beams which were dumped in his compound at Keithelmanbi village have been lying in his Bamboo farm unattended for the past 29 years without any concern from the authority adding that it was preserved as being the Government property.
He continued that while preserving the I-beams he could not cultivate the Bamboo plants anymore as it (I-beams) occupied almost all the Bamboo farm wasting his land for the entire 29 years without any plantation and production which could have otherwise earn him a handsome income.
"Despite of our poverty, we maintained our sincerity over the Government property and preserved the I-beams from being stolen away while sacrificing our land and Bamboo farm till today since 1990", said aged Paolun Kuki while adding that it is beyond our anticipation that the concerned authority have no concerned over its properties as well as their grievances all these long years.
Visibly annoyed, Paolun Kuki asked the Government and concerned authority to remove the I-beams from his Bamboo farm only and paid him handsome compensation for using and wasting his compound (Bamboo Farm) for the past 29 years on or before first week of April.
He further said that if the concerned authority fails to take away the I-beams within the stipulated time with the handsome compensation, they should no longer claim or interfere to whatsoever is done to the I-Beams after the deadline.
Grandson of Paolun Kuki also expressed his bewilderment over the unattended I-beams on the part of the concerned authority stating that forget about officials even a single employee or staffs from the concerned dept did not come even once to inquire the I-beams or request them to keep the materials in their compound.
