MSCW urges Govt to take legal action against police officer for torturing girl

Imphal, August 24 2015:
Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) has urged the Government of Manipur to take legal action against the police officer involved in torturing a student of Ibotonsana Girls' Higher Secondary School, Imphal during ILP protest on August 3 here.
A statement of MSCW on Monday condemned the "undesirable attitude" of the responsible police officer who tortured the girl in broad day light in the midst of the crowd by pulling her hair.
The Commission urged the Government to take legal action against the police officer involved in the incident.
In this connection, MSCW has also registered a case for conducting an inquiry into the matter calling the incident a crime
against women.
Manipur State Commission for Women has submitted a copy of the Commission's finding to the Government on August 24 for initiating an inquiry into the matter, the statement said.
It further added that the Commission has also decided to make a spot inquiry/field visit to the residence of girl victim.
