Nine KNA (B) cadres feared killed in Myanmar gunfight

Imphal, January 29 2025:
Another nine cadres of the Kuki National Army-Burma (KNA-B) were reportedly killed in a heavy gunfight with Manipur-based insurgent organisations led by the proscribed People's Liberation Army (PLA), in Min Thar area of Myanmar located close to Kamjong district on Wednesday morning.
According to sources, the gunfight occurred early Wednesday morning and lasted for over an hour.
After the gunfight, the insurgents led by PLA carried out reconnaissance of the area and found nine bodies of KNA (B) cadres along with some sophisticated weapons, live rounds, lathode guns and shells, uniform and other items.

Mention may be made here that at least 10 KNA (B) cadres were also killed in a gunfight with Manipur-based insurgents in an area under Myanmar nearby the Indo-Myanmar Border Pillar no 78 in Kamjong district on January 27 morning.
According to a report by India Today NE, intense gunfights between the Kuki National Army-Burma (KNA-B) and Manipur-based rebel groups continued for the third consecutive day near the Indo-Myanmar border, close to Border Pillar No.87' in Kamjong district.
The clashes, which began on Januairy 27, have escalated farther, leading to casualties.
Reports indicate that at least eight more KNA-B cadres were killed in fresh gunfights today, bringing the estimated death toll on the KNA-B side to around 30 over the past three days, maintained the report.
It also cited sources as saying that at least eight sophisticated weapons were recovered from the conflict zone.
Security forces are yet to release an official statement regarding the exact number of casualties on both sides.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, as the prolonged gun fight poses a serious security threat along the Indo-Myanmar border.
