Shirley Roy reappointed to lead community outreach

Shirley Roy, who hailed from Manipur, has been reappointed to support the Embassy of India in Bangkok's community outreach in Thailand, focusing on diaspora engagement, cultural programmes and practical assistance to community members when needed.
According to information shared by Shirley Roy, her recent activities included helping organise the Northeast Indian Society (NEIS) concert in Bangkok as part of the NEIS executive team on August 9, featuring singer Alobo.
The event drew more than 70 attendees from the Northeast Indian community and the wider Indian diaspora, along with the Ambassador of India to Thailand, his spouse and senior Embassy officials.

She also coordinated a community fundraiser for a widow following her husband's sudden illness, which raised more than 300 per cent of its target.
In addition, she served as a point of contact for concerned families after the Myanmar earthquake was felt in Bangkok, and gave a Zoom interview to Impact News that aired on its evening bulletin.
"I'm grateful for the continued trust," Shirley Roy said.
"My goal is to be useful and reachable, helping our community feel supported, connected, and informed".
She has been previously profiled by multiple Northeast India media outlets for community work in Thailand, and has been active with NEIS and diaspora groups on cultural events, welfare support and emergency coordination.
Based in Thailand since 2017, she is originally from Manipur.
