Bodies oppose CM's resignation

In response to the resignation of chief minister N Biren Singh and condemning alleged "divide and rule" policy applied by the government of India in Manipur, Laipham Khunou Apunba Meira Lup organised a sit-in protest at Laipham Khunou Makha Leikai SD Club ground on Thursday.
Speaking on the sidelines of the protest, meira paibi activist Laishram Nanobi expressed that the resignation of CM Biren during this critical time is both untimely and unnecessary.
He should be reappointed as chief minister to address the ongoing crisis in the state, she insisted.
Criticising political maneuvering by leaders, she said that such acts have worsened the suffering of the people of Manipur.

Given the current situation, she warned that the state might see a situation similar to the "June 18" incident, or even worse.
She called on the state's leaders to unite and resolve the crisis.
Protestors used placards inscribed with messages such as "We disapprove the resignation of chief minister N Biren", "Village Volunteers cannot be arrested", "We condemn the divide and rule policy of the government of India" and "We want peace".
A sit in protest was also organised by Wangoo Meira Paibi and Chairel Meira Paibi at Wangoo Mamang Sabal community hall on Thursday reacting against the resignation of the chief minister.
The meira paibi activists taking part in the protest demonstration used placard with messages such as "Leaders of the state should not be divided", "MLAs should be responsible for any unwanted incidents arising out of the imposition of PR in the state", "Kuki narco-terrorists should be uprooted from the soil of Manipur", etc.
After the sit-in protest, the participants took out a rally in and around Wangoo area.
A similar sit-in protest was also held at Pangaltabi under Sugnu assembly constituency, organised by Pangaltabi Apunba Meira Paibi.
The sit-in expressed resentment over the chief minister's decision to tender resignation and demanded that N Biren be reappointed as chief minister.
