MNYO condemns threats to Nagas

Manipur Naga Youth Organisation (MNYO) along with Naga youth club leaders of Imphal Naga villages on Sunday held an emergency meeting at Tarung community hall, here against threats, loot and assault on Naga people settling in the valley by armed people/groups.
A release by MNYO Information and Media Cell informed that the meeting presided over by MNYO president Athot Keitang and co-chaired by vice president Momo Tantanga with proceedings of the meeting recorded by general secretary Poudin Riamei, noted Naga people living in Imphal area receiving threats and intimidation from unknown armed miscreants.
Informing that the meeting was held in the backdrop of undesired situation encountered by Nagas in three different places in Imphal area on May 8, the meeting resolved that any Naga individual residing in Imphal and periphery shall not cede to demand for paying any ransom money, and in case of ransom demand by armed organisation/unknown miscreants and intimidation of Naga individual or business establishment should inform the same to the local youth club and MNYO office, it informed.
The Cell further stated that the meeting resolved to form MNYO Imphal branch under the aegis of MNYO for strengthening and functioning effectively.
"The MNYO is seriously observing and surveying the situation of the Naga people residing in Imphal and periphery in connection with the present ethnic clash," it added.
