World Environment Day observed in Kakching, Chandel, Tripura

Kakching, June 06 2024:
World Environment Day -2024 was orgnaised under the joint aegis of Chandel Forest Division and Chandel Naga People's Organisation (CNPO) at Maha Union Government Higher Secondary School, Japhou in Chandel town on Wednesday.
The event marked by planting of trees by leaders of 11 tribes under CNPO and pledge by leaders and villagers to safeguard the environment, was attended by Chandel District Forest Officer Abhijith, Chandel Forest division ACF N Munal Meitei, CNPO president Dilbung Thamdok CNPO executives, representatives of Naga Women's Union Chandel, Naga Chief Association Chandel, Tribe Leaders, Youth leaders and village chiefs.
Meanwhile, in connection with the World Environment Day, plantation of saplings was carried out in Agartala, Tripura under the joint aegis of Lamyanba -A Socio Cultural Organization and Sivjoy Dance Academy with the support from Satadal Sangha.
The Committee for Peace and Social Harmony, Kakching along with residents of the relief camp opened at Kakching Indoor Stadium planted tree saplings in and around the Indoor Stadium on the occasion of World Environment Day, on Wednesday while Tayama Charitable Trust, Kakching and Kakching Popular Sporting Club (KPSC) planted tree saplings around the club's playground.
Kakching MLA M Rameshwar also led the public in tree plantation drives at Kakching Irum Ningthou Laikol, Khullen Ibudhou Khamlangba Laikol, Wairi Ibudhou Khamlangba Laikol and around DSA Kakching playground.
Kha Manipur College, Kakching Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Eco Club of the college, NSS Unit I and II also planted around 150 tree saplings as part of the World Environment Day organised by Alliance for Development Alternative Manipur (ADAM) Kakching and Management Committee Angaan Ching Eco Park Kakching.
The NCC unit of Keirak Government Upper Primary School and Kha Manipur College Kakching also took part at the event.
Wabagai MLA Dr Usham Deben, Range Forest Officer Kakching, Wabagai Zilla Parishad, Keirak Gram Panchayat, Keirak United Development Association (KUDA) also jointly organised the World Environment Day and planted trees along the Sekmaijin Barrage.
The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Kakching District Branch in association with IRCS Manipur State Branch observed the day at Wabagai Yangbi High School relief camp with DM University former VC Dr N Rajmuhon and IRCS Manipur chairman Narendra Ningomba as chief guest and president respectively.
A similar event was also organised by Administrative Committee Hiyanglam AC and Lamyanba Enterprises.
CFL, Kakching along with Manipur State Rural Livelihood Mission of the RD&PR department and womenfolk of Hiyanglam Village level Federation also planted trees as part of World Environment Day observance.
