SFs take up strict measures in Greater Imphal

Imphal, September 06 2023:
After COCOMI s announcement to march to Phougakchao Ikhai and remove the army barricades in the area, both central and state forces took up stringent security measures to prevent any unwanted incidents from happening in Greater Imphal area on Wednesday.
As the government clamped total curfew in five districts, namely Imphal East and West, Thoubal, Bishnupur and Kakching following the said announcement, the markets and shops in the specified districts remained shut and movement of people restricted.
Although the movement of security personnel, media and essential services such as health, electricity, PHED, Petrol Pumps, schools/colleges, municipality, functioning of courts and flight passengers was relaxed, most schools/colleges and petrol pumps remained closed for the day.
Both central and state forces prevented entry to Khwairamband market and carried out checking-frisking operation in Nagamapal and Uripok areas.
The security forces also set up security checkpoints at Maharani Thong, Keishampat and Yaiskul Police Lane.
