Thoubal, September 06 2023:
Thoubal and Kakching District Apunba Lup (TAKDAL) organised a one-day public convention on "No More Politics, No More Violence against Innocent Life" at Sapam Community hall on Wednesday.
During the convention, various resolutions were adopted including imposition of a public curfew on September 8 and 9 in the entire state.
Announcing the resolutions, TAKDAL convenor Waikhom Jotin appealed to the people to come out during the curfew and burn the effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, union home minister Amit Shah and chief minister N Biren Singh as a form of protest.
Other resolutions included demands to the central and state governments to put an end to the over four-month long violence in the state, allowing the displaced people to return to their home with adequate protection, driving out all poppy cultivators who are harming the life and integrity of the state, immediate protection for all indigenous people, and for all CSOs to unite and come up with a united decision, which TAKDAL will fully support.
The convention, which was attended by thousands of people, also observed a two-minute silence as a mark of respect to all those who have attained martyrdom in the ongoing violence.
Representatives of Federation of Civil Society (FOCS), Co-ordination Committee of 30 Assembly Constituency, Langsai Thouna Kakching, Youth of Manipur and various others also attended the convention.
