Imagi Meira urges Govt to book armed miscreants

Imphal, May 12 2024: Convenor of the Imagi Meira Th Sujata has urged the State Government to identify those gunmen who opened fire at her house on April 20 and those who intimidated a reporter of Imphal Times recently, and book them within 15 days.

Speaking to the media at Manipur Press Club today, Th Sujata said that womenfolk have been spending countless nights on streets amid the crisis to ensure no harm is done to the youth.

Saying that they have been intimidated on multiple occasions, Th Sujata said that a group of unidentified gunmen fired at her house for simply demanding legal actions against those who created a scene in some polling stations during the Lok Sabha election on April 19 .

A reporter of Imphal Times was also intimidated recently by unidentified gunmen, she said and added the unfolding situation in Manipur is unprecedented.

What will be the fate of Manipur if these unidentified gunmen involved in such atrocities are not booked, she said and demanded that the Government must use all its power to ascertain who these unidentified gunmen are and take action against them.

She urged the Government to book those who fired at her house and those who intimidated a reporter of Imphal Times within 15 days.

Imagi Meira will take legal action on its own if there is no positive response from the State Government, she said.
