Imphal, November 07 2026: The All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) conducted an inspection drive at Thangal and Paona Keithel today to check whether shopkeepers were selling goods at inflated prices ahead of Ningol Chakkouba.

During the drive, many shops were found not displaying the prices of goods fixed by the Government, while several others were found adhering to the Government's prescribed rates and displaying the prices at their shops.

Volunteers of the students' organisation advised shopkeepers against selling goods at inflated prices by taking advantage of the festive season.

Speaking to the media, AMSU general secretary Salam Changkhonba said that the inspection drive was conducted to ensure that shopkeepers do not exploit the festive season.

He appealed to shopkeepers to sell goods at the rates fixed by the Government.

He also urged the Government to ensure that shopkeepers strictly adhere to the prescribed rates and take necessary action against those found selling goods at higher prices.
