Imphal, February 28 2025:
Even as the crucial Class X and Class XII examinations are underway in Manipur, students are facing an unexpected and formidable challenge: frequent power outages.
The power outages, which have become a daily occurrence, are not only disrupting the academic lives of thousands of students but are also taking a toll on the mental and emotional well-being of the students.
A group of parents said that students are finding it difficult to study and prepare for their exams, as the power outages are often prolonged, lasting for hours.
They (the parents) expressed their disappointment, saying they had expected the imposition of President's Rule to bring stability, but instead, the situation has deteriorated, with frequent, unannounced power outages adding to their woes.

Many parents also took to social media to share poignant photos of their children studying by candlelight, highlighting the struggles they face due to the frequent power outages.
The power outages have also taken a toll on daily life, with many people sharing frustrating experiences, such as rice cookers shutting off mid-cycle, leaving them with spoiled food when the price of rice is over Rs 50 per kg.
On the other hand, noting the irregularity of power supply since the past few weeks which has been causing serious grievances to the public, particularly students appearing in the Class X and Class XII exams, the Manipur State Power Companies (MSPCL & MSPDCL) Employees' Association has appealed to the authority concerned to look into the matter.
The erratic power supply has been adding to the woes of the public who have been already suffering a lot on account of the prevailing situation.
On the other hand, people have been directing their anger and grievances against the staff manning power sub-stations, said a press release issued by employees' association.
It also appealed to all the people not to use power against established rules and refrain from tapping power without proper authorisation.
