Surrender of arms continues in response to Governor's appeal

Imphal, February 25 2025:
In response to the appeal made by Governor urging individuals to surrender looted and illegally possessed weapons, a significant number of arms, ammunition, and other security-related equipment were handed over to the district police of Bishnupur and Jiribam on Tuesday.
In Bishnupur district, weapons were surrendered at Nambol, Moirang and Phougakchao Ikhai police station, and Commando Unit (CDO) of Bishnupur.
Nambol PS received one SBBL country-made gun, one country-made rifle, four SBBL guns, one DBBL gun, and one .303 rifle with magazine and 15 rounds.
Additionally, one tear smoke gun, six rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, a 36 hand grenade, a smoke grenade, a stun shell, three normal tear smoke shells, four soft-nose tear smoke shells, one long-range tear smoke shell, Three Baofeng handsets, one bulletproof (BP) plate, eight BP vests, four assault vests, three multi-magazine pouches, and six armoured helmets.
At Moirang PS, individuals handed over one SBBL gun, one DBBL gun, and a carbine submachine gun (SMG) with a magazine.
Additionally, 70 rounds of .303,10 rounds of 7.62 mm, one 36 HE hand grenade, and two tear smoke shells Were surrendered.
One SBBL gun, five 12-bore cartridges, a smoke bomb, three BP jackets, two helmets, and one handheld Baofeng communication set were also surrendered at Phougakchao Ikhai PS .
The Commando (CDO) unit of Bishnupur recorded the largest surrender in terms of both arms and equipment.
Weapons included one SLR with magazine, INSAS rifle with two magazines, two DBBL guns, three SBBL guns, and a locally made .303 rifle with magazine and 23 rounds.
Two additional .303 rifles, a locally made .22 pistol with magazine, and an unknown magazine were also handed over.
The surrendered ammunition included one Lathod shell, two rounds of AK ammunition, 10 rounds of 7.62 ballistic cartridges, and 27 rounds of M-16.Explosives included two Chinese hand grenades, seven 36 HE hand grenades, a mortar shell, a stun grenade, and three detonators.
Additional equipment consisted of three BP plates, 20 vests, 14 BP helmets, nine shirts, and a pair of pants.
In Jiribam district, individuals also responded to the Governor's appeal by surrendering various illegal arms and ammunition to security forces.
The surrendered weapons included three 12-bore double-barrel guns marked as MODERN 95, one 12-bore single-barrel gun marked as MODEL MMB, and another single-barrel gun marked as KETY.
A 9 mm carbine with magazine, an anti-riot gas gun, and one 36 HE hand grenade were also handed over.
The ammunition surrendered in Jiribam included two HE grenade launcher rounds, 30 rounds of 12-bore ammunition, 171 rounds of 7.62x39 mm, and one 40 mm HE ammunition.
Three helmets, six BP jackets, three BP iron plates, nine pairs of jungle boots, one walkie-talkie charger cable and two walkie-talkie charger bases were also surrendered in Jiribam.
