Imphal, February 21 2025:
Reacting to recent viral video of commenting on the need for the Meeteis to unite and support N Bi-ren Singh in tackling thoge attacking the Meetei in the on going clash between the Meeteis and Kukis, former chief minister Radha Binod Koijam clarified that the video is of an old speech he delivered more than a year back.
In a release, Radha Binod stated that the speech was made on February 12, 2024 in a function for the re lease of the book, "Writings & speeches of RadhaBinpd Koijam an anthology" at JN Manipur Dance Academy, Imphal where N Biren Singh was the chief guest.
"I was speaking on the heed for unity of Meeteis and to support a leader while facing the onslaught on them.
The situation was different then.
Thfe perspectives have fundamentally changed now," he clarified.
Pointing out that he has not been in touch with any media person, local or from outside, for more than a year, Radha Binod regretted that some media has reported as if the speech was made in a recent function in Guwahati.
"This is nothing but a mala-fide manipulation.
Nothing can be farther from the truth," he added.
Further clarifying that in the last 1-2 years he has not even been to Guwahati, the former chief minister maintained that there was no occasion to attend and deliver a speech at Guwahati recently.
"It is very unfortunate that some vested interests are deliberately manipulating the video of the aforementioned speech to project it out of context on the social and mainstream media.
Such mischief mongers are criminals and are liable for prosecution under the law of the land," Radha Binod cautioned, while adding that he feels pity for these menial souls trying to score cheap political brownie points at the expense of some one's reputation in public.
