RIMS observes Forensic Medicine Day

Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal observed the Forensic Medicine Day, 2024 at the Banting Hall of the Institute on Sunday.
Among others, the function was attended by RIMS director Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma, dean (Academic) Prof Brogen Singh Akoijam, and sub-dean (Academic) Prof Th Meera Devi.
As part of the observance, a debating competition was organised on the topic "Medical Consumerism and Commercialisation of Healthcare" with Dr Akoijam Ibohal and Dr Koijam Sashikumar Singh as the judges.
Meanwhile, a dental health camp was organised to mark the 35th anniversary of Indian Dental Association (IDA) Manipur State Branch, at Khomdonbi High School in Kakching Khunou on Saturday.
The commemorative programme, conducted in association with RIMS Dental College and organised by Development Committee of Kakching Khunou, aimed to provide dental services to the community while celebrating the longstanding commitment of IDA Manipur.
The camp offered a range of services to address dental health issues within the community, particularly in the relief camp setting, such as oral cancer screenings and free treatments to 200 patients.
Free medicines were also distributed to all patients along with toothbrushes and toothpastes for children.
IDA Manipur honorary secretary Dr Deepa Ningombam spoke on the occasion.
On the other hand, RIMS also organised a Swachhta Health camp at Khangabok Relief Camp as a part of Swachhta Action Plan 2024-25 with doctors from different departments such as Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Medicine and ENT providing treatment to the relief camp residents.
Free medicines were also distributed to the patients during the health camp, a press release by RIMS media advisor N Phillip Singh informed.
