Assam Rifles conducts literacy and financial awareness programmes

Imphal, September 08 2026:
Demonstrating commitment to youth empowerment, Assam Rifles conducted twin educational initiatives focusing on academic and financial literacy in Kakching and Keithelmanbi on Septembers.
Under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South), International Literacy Day was observed at Waikhong in Kakching district in collaboration with Waikhong High School.
The programme saw participation of 395 persons including 349 students, 9 teachers and 37 parents.
Literary competitions such as essay writing, debates and poem recitation, cultural items and sports activities like sack and jalebi races were organised to foster creativity, critical thinking and confidence among students.
Concurrently, a Financial Literacy Session was organised at Assam Rifles Public School, Keithelmanbi.
Conducted by Ananya Gupta and Rishabh Mathur from GrowthEd Foundation, the interactive workshop was attended by 70 students and 18 teachers.
The session provided practical insights into saving, budgeting, responsible spending, needs versus wants, financial goal setting and informed decision making.
Both initiatives were aimed at nurturing confident, responsible and future-ready citizens through peoplecentric educational engagements.
