State Level National Science Day-2025 observed

Imphal, February 28 2025:
As elsewhere in the country, the Science Unit of the Department of Education (S) observed the 'State Level National Science Day-2025' on the theme 'Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science and Innovation for Viksit Bharat', at the auditorium of Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS), Palace Gate on Friday.
The programme was attended by Education (S) additional director (valley) Bisheshwar Khumukcham as president and secretary Naorem Praveen as chief guest, while joint secretaries Elangbam Sonia and Dr A Chinglenkhomba Meetei, Education (GC) additional director G Anita Devi, Education (S) additional director (hills) Dangmei Manglem and Education (S) finance officer B Sanatombi were guests of honour.
As part of the observance, a science quiz competition was organised for students of Class IX-XII which Little Flower School students (Class X) Divyanshi Oinam and Briliantina Ahanthem won the first prize consisting of Rs 15,000 cash, memento and certificate.
MI Academy's Lamjingkhomba Meitei and Manganlembi Yengkhom bagged the second place and were presented Rs 12,000, memento and certificate each.
The third place was won by Manipur Creative School students Korimayum Arash and Mohammand Sahanwaj, receiving Rs 9000, memento and certificate.
The consolation prize of Rs 6000 and certificate was present to St George High School students Langlen Irengbam and Angelina Ayekpam.
The Day was also jointly observed by Vibha Vani India and Green Foundation at the Farmers' Convention Centre of the Foundation at Kwakeithal Awang Leikai on Friday.
The observance was attended by Central Agricultural University, Imphal ex-dean Prof M Iboton Singh as chief guest, Vibha Vani Manipur president Dr Ch Brajakishwor as president, while Manipur Remote Sensing and Space Application Centre director Oinam Nodiachand and Vibha Vani Manipur secretary Dr N Desorjit Singh were guests of honour.
As part of the observance, the students of Honeycomb School, Mongsangei were informed of what science is about and also shown microscopic images of plants using microscopes.
Meanwhile, the five-day observance of National Science Day 2025 organised by Manipur Science & Technology Council (MASTEC), Imphal in collaboration with STFM, MAPS, MASCA, RIST and GENIM culminated at MASTEC complex in Takyelpat on Friday The closing function was attended by Science and Technology secretary Kengoo Zuringla as chief guest, MASTEC director Dr Kh Rakesh as president, CSIR-NEIST Branch Laboratory chief scientist Dr H Birkumar Singh and Science and Technology joint secretary Chingakham Shachi as guests of honour.
During the closing function, prizes were distributed to winners of different competitions held as part of National Mathematics Day 2024 and National Science Day 2025.BRIC-Institute of Bio-resources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Takyelpat, also commemorated National Science Day 2025 at its conference hall on Friday.
According to a press release by IBSD, the event brought together staff, research scholars, and students from IBSD's regional centres in Sikkim, Meghalaya, and Mizoram, who participated both in-person and virtually.
The institute also welcomed a delegation of teachers and students from Ramkrishna Mission School, Uripok, Imphal.

The celebration also featured an interactive science quiz that fostered enthusiastic participation among attendees, promoting scientific curiosity and knowledge exchange, the release added.
On the other hand, Presidency College, Motbung observed National Science Day at its campus in Sadar Hills, Kangpokpi district on Friday.
The event, known as SciFest, had students participating in quiz and poster competitions, and presenting well-designed projects with confidence and creativity, Department of Physics assistant professor Dr Md Amir Hussain conveyed.
