Imphal, July 16 2015 :
A meeting of several clubs and organisations of Khetrigao was held at the office of YOVA Club Khergao on Thursday at 3 pm.
Youth Voluntary Association Khergao, Young Star Sporting Union Keikhu, All Manipur Muslim Girls Student Union Manipur and All Manipur Muslim Coordinating Committee Manipur with the Pradhan of Khetrigao Panchayet II participated in the meeting.
The meeting thoroughly discussed the issue of ILP and condoled the death of Sapam Robinhood and shared the grief of the bereaved family.
The organisations said that Muslims in Manipur support the ongoing ILP movement while giving the example of bandhs and general strikes being called at Muslim inhabited areas in the state.
But it is unfortunate that each and every Muslim could not support the issue openly since the sacred festival of Muslims,Ramadan is going on.
While condemning all those people who attacked ambulances and doctors during the bandh using communal words "Pangal", they asked whether there is any meaning of integrity? Are Muslims not supporters of the bill which will protect the indigenous communities of Manipur? Which communities are the indigenous people? These questions need to be answered clearly by the State Govt.and JCILPS to bring a victory on the issue since suspicion has been rising in the heart of Manipuri Muslims.
Muslims always wanted for a bill which protects the indigenous communities of Manipur.
Manipuri Muslims who are minorities still speak Manipuri language as mother tongue.
They have been contributing their best to public issues of the state.
JCILPS Co-Convener Md.Kheirudin as a Muslim is doing his duty on the ILP issue.
Muslims in many parts of the state like Khetrigao are supporting bandhs and general strikes.
Once the sacred festival is over then Manipuri Muslims under the guidance of JCILPS will co-operate with others and take major role until ILP is implemented in the state, they said in the meeting.Further they appealed to people of all walks of life not to call any bandh or general strike till July 18, which is the day of Id-ul-Fitr.
Pangal Political Forum, Manipur also greeted on the festival of Muslims Id-ul-Fitr.
May the festival bring peace, unity, harmony, brotherhood in the state, said a release by the Forum.
The Forum also expressed their support on the ILP issue and urged all not to impose any bandh or general strike on the day of sacred festival.
Meanwhile, Muslim Council Manipur (MCM) on behalf of Manipuri Muslims extended their full support to the ongoing ILP movement in the state.
Since time immemorial Manipuri Muslims have been sharing and participating, and will continue to do so, in any public issues being a part and people of the state, General Secretary of MCM said at a press meet on Thursday.
While strongly condemning the brutal killing of Robinhood, MCM also asked all not to call any bandh or general strike on July 17 and 18 so that all Muslims could celebrate the festival.
