Leipak Kanba Ahallup (Leikal Lup) organised a discussion on Sanamahi minority demand at Manipur Press Club today.
Vice president of the Leikal Lup Konjengbam Shyamkishore, members of the Lup, Sanasam Laibakchao and president of IPAK, Sapamcha Jadumani, attended the discussion as the presidium members.
At the event, Yangoi Peeba made a keynote address stating that purpose of the meeting is to include the Sanamahi followers in the minority group so that they could get the benefit of being a minority.
According to the 2011 census, India's Population is more than 121 crores.
Of the total population, Hindu covers about 76.8 percent (which is about 96 crores) while Islam and Christian cover 14.23 and 2.3 percents (which is about 17 crores and 3 crores respectively).
Even with such a huge population, Islam and Christian follower get all the benefit of being a minority.
On the other hand, Manipur has a population of only about 27 lakhs according to 2011 census of which only about 2 lakh and 22 thousand peoples are followers of Sanamahi.
He made a conclusion by saying that it is rightful for the followers of Sanamahi to get all the benefit of the minority.
