Imphal, July 05 2018:
Chairman of the Consultative Committee, Joint Administrative Council (JAC) of All Manipur Trade Unions' Council (AMTUC) and All Manipur Government Employees' Organisation (AMGEO), Soraisam Keshoram has claimed that Government offices and Departments of the State have been plunged into chaos due to the negligent attitude of the State Government regarding implementation of 7th Pay for the State Government employees and pensioners.
He made the claim during a sit-in-protest staged by the employees of Art and Culture Department and Block Development office, Hiyangthang, atthe premises of Art and Culture Department at Palace Compound.
The chairman further alleged that the State Government's reasoning that it does not have the capability to implement the pay structure at the moment is just a lame excuse to sideline the matter without making any effort.
Contending that the Government will find ways to implement the 7th Pay if it acknowledges the grievances of the employees and sincerely tries to resolve the matter, he questioned why the State Government cannot implement the pay structure while other States, including many small ones which does not have ample resource, have been able to implement it in their respective States.
He also warned that the State Government employees will not accept the lame excuse given by the Government and conveyed that there is no question of compromising on protecting the rights ofthe employees.
The cease work strike carried out by the State Government employees under the aegis of JAC of AMTUC & AMGEO has entered its 106th day today.
