IGNOU Regional Centre celebrates 33rd convocation

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), Regional Centre observed its 33rd convocation at Tribal Research Institute, Chingmeirong today.
Commissioner (Higher & Technical Education/SCERT) M Harekrishna, Regional Director, Regional Centre Imphal Dr SJ Neethirajan, Assistant Regional Director, Regional Centre Imphal Dr Oinam Jayalakshmi attended the ceremony.
Speaking at the function, M Harekrishna said that around 1069 learners of IGNOU Imphal Regional centre are taking part in the convocation, which first initiated in 2007.IGNOU, as India's leading open and distance learning centre, has been facilitating opportunities of higher education to numerous students, apart from rendering degrees, certificates and diplomas to them.
The centre also conducts certificate course for skilled people who holds no certificate/ official acknowledgement, he added.
Meanwhile, the main function of IGNOU's 33rd convocation was organised at Baba Saheb Ambedkar Convocation Centre, IGNOU, New Delhi with Minister, Ministry of Human Resource Development, GoI, Ramesh Pokhriyal (Nishank) as the chief guest.
