Imphal, July 14 2024:
Claiming that Sunday's attack on Mongbung Meetei village in Jiribam district was carried out by Kuki-Zo terrorists KNA-B and its allies, Jiri Apunba Lup (JAL) has strongly condemned frequent targeting of innocent Meetei villagers.
In a statement, JAL con veyed deepest condolences to the family of the CRPF trooper Ajay Kumar Jha, who lost his life during the attack by armed KNA (B) terrorists while out-rightly dismissing Kuki-Inpi, ITLF, CoTU, and other Kuki organisations blaming Manipur police commando as well as Meetei groups and officers of central forces for the attack as baseless and full of lies.
JAL emphasised that CRPF remains neutral in protecting every citizen of India and only retaliated after one of their personnel got killed by armed Kuki-Zo terrorists.
JAL highlighted the deliberate arson of Ibohanbi's house by Kuki-Zo terrorists, which resulted in extensive damage, leaving the family homeless and their belongings destroyed.
The attack also resulted in the injury of some state forces personnel while defending the village.
JAL prayed for the affected families and called for swift and decisive action by the authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice, stressing that such acts of violence and terror cannot be tolerated in a civilised society.
The statement further said that JAL stands in solidarity with the security forces who risk their lives to protect com munities and expressed its utmost respect and support for their sacrifice and dedication.
It also urged the government to reinforce security measures in vulnerable areas to prevent future incidents, while emphasising that the safety and well-being of citizens must be a top priority.
JAL also called for unity against terrorism and violence, and pledged to support the victims and their families as well as to ensure justice is served.
It further accused the Kuki-Zo armed terrorists of carrying out ethnic cleansing of indigenous Meetei community since May 3, 2023 along with alleging that Kuki-Zo terrorists have targeted women, children, and the elderly, bulldozed houses, and forced people into relief camps.
JAL criticised the Kuki-Inpi, ITLF, CoTU, and their sister organisations for spreading false allegations and demanding separate administration through fake press notes filled with lies and concocted statements.
JAL called upon the relevant authorities to crack down on Kuki-Zo narco-terrorists by abrogating the SoO agreement to maintain peace and security in the state.
They emphasised that the ongoing conflict and the fabricated narratives spread by Kuki-Zo organisations undermine the efforts to achieve lasting peace and justice for the Meetei community.
