Claims worth ₹1.82 er settled during National Lok Adalat

Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) executive chairman and High Court of Manipur judge Justice Ahanthem Bimol has appealed to people, who have yet to file court cases or facing pending cases/disputes, to avail the facilities of National Lok Adalat so as to settle the cases without wasting time or money.
He made the appeal while inspecting the Lok Adalat held at Lamphel Court complex on Saturday as part of the Second National Lok Adalat organised by MASLSA in collaboration with High Court Legal Services Committee and District Legal Services Authorities at the district courts and the High Court of Manipur.
Justice Golmei Gaiphulshillu was also part of the inspection team.
Justice Ahanthem Bimol continued that this is the second National Lok Adalat, out of the four Lok Adalats to be held in a year, as per the guidelines of National Legal Services Authority.
The third National Lok Adalat will be held on September 14 and the fourth on December 14.Stating that pending court cases or disputes for which cases have not yet been filed, can be referred to National Lok Adalat; the judge said that the cases or disputes can be resolved amicably without wasting time and money.
A benefit of this is that the case disposed in the National Lok Adalat can again be re-appealed in the court, he added, while appealing to the public to avail the benefits of National Lok Adalat.
During the National Lok Adalat, around 2000 pending civil case and criminal compoundable cases including bank recovery, MACT, matrimonial disputes, negotiable instrument act and water bill cases were listed.
Of these, 188 cases were taken up and 177 disposed and claims worth around Rs 1,82,83,801 settled.
