PCCF & HoFF reviews implementation of schemes in Kangpokpi

Imphal, February 28 2025:
Principal Chief Conservator of Forests & Head of Forest Force (PCCF & HoFF) Anurag Bajpai on Friday reviewed and inspected implementation of programmes of the three departments in Kangpokpi district along with the deputy commissioner, senior district level officials of Textiles, Commerce & Industries, and Tribal Affairs & Hills.
Anurag Bajpai was accompanied by chief conservator of Forests (T-II) & nodal officer (VDVK) Gaithaolu Thaimei, and director (Tribal Affairs) Hannah Kahmei, and deputy secretary (Tribal Affairs & Hills) Ransing.

A meeting was held with the DC and the officials concerned of the three departments at Mini Secretariat, Kangpokpi for reviewing performance of the schemes namely, PM Vishwakarma, PMEGP, PMFME, One District One product implemented by the Textiles, Commerce & Industries.
Under the programmes of Handloom and Handicrafts, the action taken up in the district for IDPs, distribution of looms, etc., was reviewed.
For the schemes of Tribal Affairs, PM Jan Mann was discussed in detail along with linkages being established with other flagship programme.
For the programmes of the Forest department, Anurag stressed the need to work in a focussed manner for people centric programmes which extend benefit to the public through employment generation, using non timber forest produce under VDVK, livelihood programme under Green India Mission, etc.
He invited the people of Kangpokpi to make Kangpokpi a 'Green District' with massive bamboo plantation in the blank areas, as bamboo being a fast growing species, has the potential to offer the returns wit hin a short period of 3-4 years and also as raw material for industrial products, biofuel, handicraft, food items, etc.
It was also informed during the meeting that three more VDVKs were under finalisation for Kangpokpi district.
Bajpai informed that the Textiles, Commerce & Industries Department has also submitted proposal for a new Industrial Estate at Kangpokpi to the central government, which is in advanced stage of consideration.
The proposal for PVTGs at Kangpokpi under PM Jan Mann Scheme is also under consideration by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
He then encouraged the field officers to be proactive and try to reach out to the target communities for doorstep delivery.
He also emphasised for convergence of activities among Forest, Textiles, Commerce & Industries and TA & Hills departments.
Thereafter, the official team visited the office of DFO, Kangpokpi and held a meeting with frontline Forest field staff and motivated them to reach out to people and implement people centric programme proactively.
The DFO office was inspected thereafter, which was found in need of reconstruction.
The DFO was directed to run his office at Kangpokpi from temporary arrangement offered by DC/Kangpokpi till the new office is constructed.
Thereafter, District Industries Centre (DIC) and office of the project manager (Handloom & Textile) was also inspected, which also needed improvement.
The general manager (DIC) and project manager, both were encouraged to reach out to the public.
The team also inspected office of CEO, ADC.
CEO briefed all the programmes being implemented by them and also informed the challenges being faced.
Finally, the team visited Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS), Saparmeina.
The School was found doing well and students, both boys and girls, were enthusiastic.
Particularly, NCC Wing of girls was found highly motivated.
The School was found to have a good computer lab, skill lab and library.
As such, the additional chief secretary advised the School authorities to make improvement in the mess of the boys and girls' hostel.
