UNC finalises team for Aug 26 talks

Imphal, August 21 2025:
The United Naga Council (UNC) has finalised its delegation for holding talks with the Government of India on the issue of scrapping the Free Movement Regime (FMR) and the ongoing border fencing in Naga areas.
The meeting is scheduled for August 26, in New Delhi at 11 am.
According to a report published by Ukhrul Times, the delegation will be led by UNC president Ng Lorho, with working committee convenor Samson Remei, and general secretary Vareiyo Shatsang among the key members.
Other representatives include AC Thotso, KS Paul Leo, L Adani, Wango Kohring Victor, Th Angteshang Maring of ANSAM, Isaac Charenamei of ANSAM, Ch Priscilla Thiumai of the Naga Women's Union, and A Hoibila Maram.
The talks will take place following a formal invitation extended on Thursday by Ministry of Home Affairs, advisor (North East) AK Mishra.
The Naga leaders are expected to leave for the national capital on August 25 .
It may be recalled that UNC held an emergency presidential council meeting in Senapati on August 11, which was attended by presidents of Naga tribe hohos under the council.
The meeting resolved to announce the "mode of agitation and modus operandi within 15 days" in protest against the abrogation of the FMR and the ongoing border fencing construction in what the UNC terms the "Naga ancestral homeland" .
