Imphal, May 19 2024: At least one person was injured after unidentified armed person(s) fired several rounds at the People Store in Lamphel Sanakeithel under Lamphel police station on Sunday evening.

The injured has been identified as Thounaojam Pari (33)s/o Ibotombi of Nambol Kabow Wakching, shopkeeper of the store.

According to a police report, unidentified armed person(s) fired two rounds at the People Store, located to the east of BRTF camp, Lamphel around 8.10pm Sunday.

Pari, who was inside the shop, was grazed by one of the bullets on the right side of his forehead.

He was immediately taken to RIMS hospital for treatment.

On receiving news of the incident, teams of Imphal PS and Imphal West district police arrived at the scene and conducted search in suspected areas.

However, there is no report of any arrest.

Lamphel police station has registered a case in this regard.

While it is yet to be known who and for what reason fired at the People Store, police have begun taking up steps to identify and arrest the person(s) involved, the report conveyed.
