Vet dept holds awareness, vaccination drive

Noney, April 05 2025:
Noney Veterinary Hospital, under the District Veterinary Office, Tamenglong, in collaboration with the Mobile Veterinary Unit (MVU), conducted an awareness programme cum vaccination drive for domestic animals in Longsai and Longmai Part-IV villages of Noney district.
The awareness programme focused on key livestock diseases, including Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD), Brucellosis, and Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR).
The sessions were led by Dr G Poulinlu, Veterinary Officer at Noney Veterinary Hospital, and Dr Dimdim from the MVU, who spoke on a range of animal health issues, such as FMD, Brucellosis, PPR, and Classical Swine Fever.

As part of the vaccination drive, 200 cattle in Longsai village were vaccinated against FMD, alongside 30 pigs immunised against Classical Swine Fever.
Additionally, 10 dogs in Longsai and 30 dogs in Longmai Part-IV were vaccinated against rabies.
The veterinary team also emphasised the importance of the Animal Insurance Scheme to local farmers, highlighting its role in safeguarding livestock and livelihoods.
The programme was organised under the aegis of the National Animal Disease Control Programme (NADCP) .
