Governor opens seminar on India's $7 Trillion Goal

Governor Anusuiya Uikey on Tuesday inaugurated a 2 day international seminar on "India Towards a $7 trillion Economy by 2030" along with opening the 8th NEICMA annual conference at Manipur University Court Hall.
Speaking at the seminar organised by Department of Commerce MU and Association of Commerce Alumni MU in collaboration with North East India Commerce and Management Association (NEICMA), as chief guest, Governor Uikey expressed sadness that the humanitarian crisis since May 3 last year is impacting people of all communities.
Although the situation has improved to some extent, it has not been completely resolved, and normalcy is yet to be fully restored.
Nevertheless, she commended conduct of the international seminar, which aims to develop the state's economy during this challenging time.
Expressing confidence that outcome of the seminar would benefit the North East region, she appealed to the event organisers to inform her of the resolutions adopted during the seminar and assured submission of the resolutions to the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister.
The Governor also appealed to the delegates to share their ideas to help restore peace in the state.
As the special guest, MU vice chancellor Prof N Lokendra noted that as India's economic growth accelerated after the economic reforms of 1990, the country is aiming to be among the top developed economies globally by 2047 .
Attributing the progress of the Indian economy to employment of 64 percent of its population and advancement in digital technology, he expressed hope that the seminar would generate new ideas and lead the state towards development.
Presided over by NEICMA president Prof Amit Pal Singh, the function was also attended by MU School of Social Sciences dean Prof Th Pumima Devi; Yamaguchi University, Yoshida, Japan Prof Asamizu Munehiko and Uniglobe College Nepal Academic Director Prof Radhe Shyam Pradhan as guests of honour.
Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya Chhattisgarh VC Prof Alok Kumar Chakhrawal delivered the keynote address of the function.
Along with releasing the seminar souvenir, Kangleipak Business Review Journal and a handbook on Retirement Planning, Governor Anusuiya Uikey also presented the NEICMA Life time Achievement award posthumously to professor K Birendra on the occasion.
