Drugs worth Rs 1.92 Cr seized

In yet another major haul, Tengnoupal Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) apprehended one narcotics smuggler with 64,000 WY tablets approximately worth Rs 1.92 crore from Permanent Check Post (PVCP) Khudengthabi today.
In the course of checking a silver coloured Hyundai Santro Xing travelling from Moreh to Churachandpur, troops of Khudengthabi Post of Tengnoupal Battalion found a blue-colour packet containing tablets suspected to be WY hidden inside a fabricated compartment below the rear seat and in the chassis folding of both sides of the vehicle.
The driver has been identified as Lunkhomang Haokip (31), s/o late Janglam Haokip of Tuibong, Churachandpur district.
The individual has been handed over to Narcotic Central Bureau, Imphal.
In the month of January alone Tengnoupal Battalion has seized contraband worth approximately Rs 14 crore in six different incidents of illegal smuggling wherein a total of six drug peddlers were apprehended, said a statement of Assam Rifles.
