AICC president Rahul Gandhi has promised Minimum Income Guarantee Scheme (MIGS) to the people of the country in case Congress party is elected to power.
According to MPCC spokesman Kh Debabratta, Rahul Gandhi made this promise at a farmers' rally held at Raipur on Monday.
Speaking to media persons at Congress Bhavan here today, Debabratta said that Rahul Gandhi's idea has been hailed by former Finance Minister P Chidambaram and INC's Data Analytics Department chairperson Praveen Chakravarty.
Details of the proposed scheme would be elucidated in the Congress party's election manifesto for the forthcoming Lok Sabha election.
The quantum of benefits entitled to each beneficiary would be determined based on the annual income of each beneficiary household and monetary grants would be given in the form of direct transfer, Debabratta said.
P Chidambaram has already remarked that MIGS is doable as UPA Government did with the National Food Security Act 2013 and it (MIGS) is different from Universal Basic Income Scheme.
Praveen Chakravarty commented that the propose scheme would be able to determine a certain threshold as minimum income level, Debabratta conveyed.
