Assam Rifles medical camps reach remote corners of Manipur

Imphal, September 28 2025: In the hills and hamlets of Manipur, where access to healthcare remains a persistent challenge, a wave of compassionate outreach has brought relief and reassurance to hundreds.

A series of medical camps and awareness drives by Assam Rifles organised in close coordination with district hospitals, NGOs, and civil society organisations have reaffirmed the power of collaboration in serving underserved communities.

According to a release issued by the IGAR (South), the medical camp held at the Primary Health Centre in Sajik Tampak, drew wide participation from villagers, including women, children, and the elderly.

The initiative, jointly conducted by District Hospital Chandel, Centre for Women and Girls NGO, and Assam Rifles, mobilised eight specialist doctors and nearly 20 medical staff from the hospital, working alongside Assam Rifles' medical team.

Over 30 officials and troops collectively provided consultations, treatments, and free medicines, while also promoting hygiene, preventive care, and healthy living practices.

In Churachandpur, Assam Rifles partnered with Chin Baptist Church and District Hospital Churachandpur to organise a Medical Aid Camp at Lanva Model (Govt) High School on September 27, 2025.A total of 272 beneficiaries - including 10 children, 93 men, and 169 women - received medical attention, with a notable number of geriatric patients.

Specialists in Medicine, Gynaecology, Paediatrics, and Dentistry from the district hospital joined Assam Rifles' healthcare personnel to deliver consultations, conduct examinations, and distribute essential medicines.

Furthering its health outreach, Assam Rifles collaborated with the DHS and the District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit, Chandel, to conduct the Swastha Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan and an intensified IEC campaign.

Focused on lifestyle and non-communicable diseases, the programme sensitised villagers about hypertension, diabetes, and oral cancer.

Free medical checkups were provided to 127 participants, along with nutritional counselling, sanitary napkin distribution, and guidance on personal hygiene.

Together, these initiatives reflect a sustained and heartfelt commitment to community welfare.

Assam Rifles, in partnership with local health authorities and grassroots organisations, continues to bridge critical gaps in rural healthcare - bringing not just medical aid, but also hope and solidarity to the people of Manipur.
