5K dogs given anti-rabies vaccine in Bishnupur

Bishnupur, April 10 2025:
District Veterinary Office, Bishnupur informed that 5000 dogs have been administered anti-rabies vaccine across the district till date since launch of vaccination drive on April 8.Speaking to TPC, officials of the veterinary office informed that to prevent outbreak of rabies 40 veterinary dispensaries and 15 Intensive Cattle Development Projects (ICDP) as well as veterinary hospitals of Bishnupur, Nambol, Moirang, Thanga and Wangoo Terakhong are on high alert.

Confiding that the vaccination drives are being taken up at various localities on the basis of application received from clubs and local groups of the district, the officials said that vaccination drive is being carried out with by 130 veterinary doctors and support staff divided into 13 teams of 4-6 members.
Staff of Mobile Veterinary Unit and Rashtriya Gokul Mission are also involved in the drive, they added.
Informing that puppies of three months should be given first dose of anti-rabies and a booster dose every year, the officials stressed the importance of owners to voluntarily vaccinate dogs and cats to protect themselves as well as their pets from the disease.
