Imphal, February 08 2026:
Former Sagolband AC MLA Khwairakpam Loken today asserted that Manipur's people prioritize lasting peace and stability over a mere "nominal" Government, three years after unrest erupted.
He was speaking at a Sagolband Block Congress Committee's political conference on "Know Your Rights, Save Democracy, Save Manipur" at Sega Road Takhellambam Leikai, At the conference, Loken criticized the timeline: President's Rule ended after a year, paving way for a popular Government days before expiry, yet unrest persists.
"People want the old Manipur back, with free movement on highways and beyond", he said, decrying restrictions that violate citizens' rights.
He demanded swift IDP resettlement, free movement on highways and rehabilitation of conflict-affected people.
"How long will our people suffer?" he asked, urging unity against peace disruptors and effective governance.
Hailing the inclusion of Kuki representatives in the new Government as positive, he asserted hat the Congress is committed to playing its part in the Assembly to help restore peace in the State.
Furthermore, Loken urged the Government to enforce the "land of law" and ensure administration reaches every comer of the State.
