PHC Charangpat hosts National cancer awareness day

Thoubal, November 07 2025: The NCD Cell, District Health Society, Thoubal observed National Cancer Awareness Day 2025 at the Primary Health Centre, Charangpat, today.

The event was attended by District Nodal Officer of NCD Cell Thoubal, Dr M Bikramjit Singh: Senior MO, PHC Charangpat, Dr L Ranjankumar Singh, Sr MO, PHC Charangpat; District Program Manager of District Health Society Thoubal, Ch Basanta Singh; and NCD Epidemiologist, Dr S Padmabati Devi, who served as presidium members.

The National Cancer Awareness Day, first declared in 2014, is observed annually on November 7 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Marie Curie, the two-time Nobel Prize laureate.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Bikramjit Singh urged the public to adopt healthy habits such as quitting tobacco, reducing alcohol consumption, eating nutritious food, and maintaining physical fitness.

The programme concluded with a free health check-up and counselling session, attended by 52 participants, including men, women, and youths from the local community.
