AMUCO, women group aid flood-affected people

All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) continued to aid flood-affected people through distribution of essential commodities such as rice, dal, and cooking oil.
In a statement, AMUCO announced that as part of its initiative to reach out to the flood-hit families taking shelter in various relief camps and safer locations, Laipham Khunou Youth Development Association distributed essential items to residents of relief camps set up at Laipham Khunou Mamang Leikai Leitong Shanglen, Laipham Khunou Mayai Leikai community hall, Awang Leikinthabi and Santipur.
Local clubs and meira paibi groups are also extending support to the initiative of AMUCO, the release added.
Meanwhile, continuing their humanitarian service, members of Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur and All Manipur Women's Voluntary Association (AMAWOVA) extended aid to flood-affected residents of Majorkhul, on Thursday.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines, AMAWOVA president Y Kunjarani noted that since May 31, the association in collaboration with Poirei Leimarol has been providing all possible assistance to flood-affected individuals and those staying in relief camps.
Sustaining the humanitarian initiative, the two organisations provided essential items to people staying in the relief camps set up at City Convention Centre, Khuman Lampak Youth Hostel and Nagaram Church.
Kunjarani appealed to the authorities concerned to ensure adequate supply of potable water to the floodhit families and implement measures to ensure their good health.
She also urged the authorities to control arbitrary hike in prices of essential commodities.
Meanwhile, Kabui Mothers' Association president Atompi Kamei, on behalf of the people of Majorkhul, expressed gratitude to Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Association and AMAWOVA for their support.
