CPI(M) elects new general secretary, adopts resolution on Manipur crisis

Imphal, April 06 2025: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has appointed former Kerala Education Minister Mariam Alexander Baby the general secretary at the party's 24th All India Conference in Madurai.

MA Baby is the party's 6th general secretary.

The 24th congress began on April 2 and it adopted a resolution demanding an end to communal polarisation and restoration of peace in Manipur, moved by Kshetrimayum Shanta.

The 2-page resolution "Stop communal polarisation and restore peace in Manipur" condemns the Prime Minister of the country for failing to visit Manipur.

Manipur State Secretariat Member Sarat Salam attended the conference.
