KRSU condemns brutal assault and killing of student

Imphal, October 01 2025: The Komren Students' Union (KRSU) General Headquarters has strongly condemned the brutal assault and killing of Serto Joseph Kom of Moirang Mantak village, while extending its deepest condolences to the bereaved family.

In a statement, the KRSU stated that Joseph Serto, a BBA 3rd semester student of NERIM College, Jayanagar, Guwahat, was allegedly assaulted by a senior student and his accomplices on September 11, 2025 .

He was admitted to a hospital in a critical condition, where he succumbed to his injuries on September 29 .

"His untimely death due to assault near the college premises has shocked and saddened our entire community", said the Union.

The KRSU denounced the incident and urged the authorities to take stringent and immediate legal action against those responsible for the heinou crime.

The Union further appealed to ensure justice for the victim and to implement necessary preventive measures to avert similar incidents in the future.
