Seminar begins

A five-day national seminar on "Manipuri folklore, culture, language and literature" was kicked off at the conference hall of Shillong Youth Hostel on March 31.The seminar was jointly organised by Manipuri Department, Manipur University, Canchipur and Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Meghalaya and sponsored by Phunga Heritage, Shillong.
Altogether 142 teachers (from the Manipuri Department of MU), research scholars and 4th semester students attended the seminar.
Out of these, 26 scholars presented their papers on different subjects at the seminar.
The inaugural function of the national seminar was graced by Dr Munish Ningthoujam, Regional Director, Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and president of Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Meghalaya as the chief guest; Ibohal Kshetrimayum, advisory board member, Meghalaya Manipuri Welfare Society and writer KB Yengkhom as the guests of honour with Dr Chirom Rajketan, Associate Professor, Manipuri Department, Manipur University as the functional president.
