Prof Elangbam Dinamani conferred Lifetime Achievement 2018 Award

Distinguished writer and academician Professor Elangbam Dinamani was conferred the Writer of the Year 2018 (Lifetime Achievement) Award for his outstanding contribution in the field of literature and education in Manipur.
The award contains a shawl, citation and memento.
Some of his literary works include Thaklabi, Morambi Angaobi, Tingkhanglei, Pistol Ama Kundalei Ama and Lai Kishi etc.
Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, CAF & PD, Revenue Minister Karam Shyam has conveyed that the current trend of adopting new culture with carefree attitude and modern behaviour lifestyle by ignoring the ancient, core values will likely pose a threat to the existence of culture and traditional beliefs in the State.
He stated this while attending the Writers' Day 2018 function held at Priyogopalsana auditorium, Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy today.
Distinguished writer, Prof Elangbam Dinamani; Director, Art and Culture, Manipur, A Shivdas Sharma and president, Naharol Sahitya Premee Samiti, Imphal, L Upendro Sharma shared the dais with the Minister at the function.
The function was organised by Naharol Sahitya Premee Samiti in collaboration with JNMDA, Imphal.
Continuing his speech, Minister Karam Shyam appreciated the writers for possessing a strong, creative mind and producing sensational, beneficial and worthy stories and poems.
In view of the current predicament of shifting the Dev Literature Centre by July 30, "I am ready to provide financial assistance to undergo construction of Dr Kamal Literary complex for writers' welfare at Langthabal Kunja, which is within my constituency", the Minister assured.
The complex started its construction during the tenure of the previous Government with funding of Rs 10 lakh each from the then CM O Ibobi and Minister Karam Shyam when he was the MLA.
"Whatever problem we come across, whether it is in connection with border pillar or the University crisis, the present Government is ready to solve any issues with full determination in the interest of the public", he added.
Appreciating the writers for their innate quality, Prof Elangbam Dinamani said that writers minutely observe various aspects of the society and culture in a latent way.
Kabui dialect writer, D L Kabui also shared his experiences in connection with translation works from other languages to Kabui dialect.
Floral tributes were paid in memory of the deceased members of the Samiti during the event.
A magazine titled "Wakhal" edited by Rajmani Ayekpam was also released during the function.
