Imphal, July 17 2018:
Reformist Student Front has decided to boycott all educational institutes (schools, colleges, engineering colleges, medical colleges etc) from tomorrow, until and unless Manipur University Professor Adya Prasad Pandey is removed from his post and the Government brings a definite conclusion to the university issue.
A press release issued by the president of RSF Thoiba Khumancha today stated that RSF has been supporting MUSU since the beginning of the university issue and the association will fully support the 48 hours State wide bandh called by MUSU from midnight today.
Vehemently condemning the police brutality against volunteers of DESAM yesterday due to which numerous volunteers sustained injuries, including DESAM secretary general O Shital who narrowly escaped death, RSF alleged that the stubborn and arrogant nature of the VC who is still clinging to his post, is akin to attempting to ruin the students community and the State as well.
Expressing shock at the State Government for choosing to keep mum all this time, despite the impasse at the university, RSF alleged that the Government's insensitivity is due to the lack of loyalty or any love for the State among the leaders in the Government.
Taking stock of the developing situation, RSF decided to boycott all the education institutes (schools and colleges) in the State from tomorrow until and unless the VC is removed from his post and a positive solution is brought regarding the university issue.
It further conveyed that the current situation is not the sole responsibility of only MUSU, MUTA and MUSA but is also the responsibility of the people as well.
Appealing all to support the protest, RSF warned that if any institution is found conducting classes despite the warning, the institution will have to bear the responsibilities for any untoward incident which might happen.
