Imphal, July 17 2018:
Alleging that Chief Minister N Biren is incompetent to serve the State as Chief Minister for he could not resolve a single issue, Manipur University Students' Union (MUSU) has demanded N Biren to step down from the seat of Chief Minister.
Rather than taking up any bold step to help resolve the protracted Manipur University crisis, Chief Minister N Biren has been supping with Vice Chancellor Prof AP Pandey, MUSU alleged in a press release.
It further alleged that Biren could not even obtain appointments with the Union HRD Minister and the Prime Minister.
Biren obtained appointment with the Prime Minister and the Union HRD Minister allegedly with the help of Prof AP Pandey and his wife Veena Pandey.
Alleging that Chief Minister N Biren has been speaking as if he is a spokesman of Prof AP Pandey, MUSU asked the Chief Minister whether AP Pandey is more important than the lives and careers of thousands of students.
Every section of the society including the student community ought to condemn the brute force unleashed upon student protesters by the Government.
It is time for the people to teach a befitting lesson to Registrar in-charge M Shyamkesho and Deputy Registrar RK Jotin for their misdeeds and alliance with Prof Pandey.
It's time for local clubs and organisations to chastise these black sheep, MUSU said.
It asked all the Directors of different centres opened at Manipur University to step down from their respective posts in solidarity with the ongoing agitation.
Saying that they are aware of the hardships which would be experienced by all the people on account of the 48 hours general strike, MUSU appealed to all the people to support the general strike in the interest of the State's student community.
It further conveyed that all arrangements have been made for the general strike.
