Bee culture training programme

A seven days bee culture training programme was launched at the indoor stadium of Japhou, Chandel District HQ, yesterday, under the aegis of Integrated Beekeeping Development Centre under Director of Extension Education, Central Agricultural University (CAU).
The training programme which was held under the theme' Scientific methods of beekeeping for doubling farmers' income' was attended by Chandel DC Krishna Kumar, Chandel ADC Member Sh Manglem Mongsang and Chandel Christian village chief JS Laxman Anal as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking at the event, DC Chandel Krishna Kumar said that Chandel is one of the 126 districts of the country selected for training programmes under Niti Ayog of the Central Government.
He explained that the initiative has been taken up as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision to double the income of the farmers by 2020 .
He also expressed belief that bee culture would greatly benefit the farmers and the people of the district.
On the other hand, CAU Integrated Beekeeping Development Centre Project Investigator Dr KI Singh claimed that the training will be given to 25-25 people of the district.
After the training is com: pete, 10 farmers will be selected and 50 bee hives (5 each for a farmer) will be provided and a bee variety which produced large amount of honey, known as European bee, will be given to the said farmers as a trail.
