Governor chairs review meeting, meets AR DG

Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla chaired a review meeting attended by chief secretary PK Singh, commissioner (home) N Ashok Kumar, secretary (health) Sumant Singh, commissioner (education-S) Gyan Prakash, joint secretary Mercina R Panmei, and other senior officers at the conference hall of Manipur Secretariat South Block on Friday.
In a release, Raj Bhavan PRO informed that during the meeting, the Governor reviewed the overall budgetary allocations of various departments, rehabilitation of the internally displaced persons (IDPs) residing in various relief camps in the state.
He also enquired about the arrangements of imparting skill development trainings and feasibility of employment opportunities in private sectors for the IDPs.
The Governor also directed the officers for taking up steps for the implementation of 'Hunar Se Rojgar' - a Government of India initiative under the Union Ministry of Tourism, for the youth in the state, especially for the IDPs, it stated.
The release further Said that Assam Rifles Director General lieutenant general Vikas Lakhera called on the Governor at Raj Bhavan on Friday.
The AR DG briefed the Governor on the operational and deployment activities of Assam Rifles in the region.
Governor Bhalla formally carried out his official duties at the Secretariat with effect from Friday, three days earlier than his scheduled start on Monday.
As per the announcement made some days back, the Governor would begin operations from the South Block (Old) of the Secretariat from Monday.
Though the Governor's office is located at Raj Bhavan, Bhalla had decided to split his time between the Raj Bhavan and the Secretariat subsequent to imposition of the President's Rule in the state on February 13 .
