Guwahati culinary event spotlights Chef Pradip's Manipur cuisine

Imphal, February 08 2026:
Guwahati hosted the "Flavours of North-east" culinary event on January 30-31, 2026, gathering chefs from eight Northeast States.
The highlight featuring Chef Pradip from Imphal showcased authentic Manipuri cuisine, demonstrating traditional dishes like Chakhou (black rice) and the heritage salad Singju.
Chef Pradip explained Chakhou's nutritional benefits, noting its high fiber and antioxidant properties, and shared diverse cooking techniques rooted in Manipur's food traditions.

The event, organized by the Eastern India Culinary Association (EICA), aimed to elevate indigenous cuisines and promote Northeast culinary heritage.
Chef Pradip's demonstration inspired young chefs with age-old tribal flavors blended with contemporary techniques.
Notable attendees included Chef Manjit Gill, president of the Indian Federation of Culinary Associations (IFCA), and EICA officials Chef Sudhakar Rao, Chef Abhiru Biswas, and Chef Rangonath Mukherjee, who praised the showcase for bridging culinary education and industry practice with institutional support from NIPS, Shillong and IAM, Guwahati.
