Imphal, July 19 2015 :
Joint Action Committee (JAC) Against the Killing of Sapam Robinhood has reaffirmed it will not claim the body of the student protester until the State Government introduces a new Bill to enforce Inner Line Permit System (ILPS) in Manipur.
The decision was taken during a huge public meeting held at the Napan Thong commuinity hall in Khurai Lairikyengbam Leikai in Imphal East on Sunday.
The meeting further decided that the JAC formed to seek justice in the killing of Sapam Robinhood will go on intense strike unless all police personnel responsible for his death are booked and punished by the Government.
Sapam Robinhood (16) was killed in police crackdown on July 8 while he was taking part in ILP protest.
The JAC also decided that Dinku Road will be blocked as part of the JAC's mass agitation to demand an ILPS Bill acceptable to all.
The JAC members along with a large number of people later stormed the residence of Law Minister Th Debendra Singh, Lairikyengbam Leikai at around 4:30 pm.
The protesters said that being a public leader, Debendra was still keeping mum on the ILP issue.
The protesters squatted in the courtyard waiting for the minister to come out and have a talk with them on the issue.
However, the minister was not at home at the time.
Enraged, the protesters tried to burn his effigy.
The attempt was foiled by the police personnel.
The police later dispersed the angry crowd.
