AR attends to medical needs of isolated villagers of Chandel district

Chandel, November 29 2018:
Assam Rifles in redefining its moto of being the "Sentinels of North East" conducted a series of medical camps under OP Sadbhavana, at far flung villages of Khengjoi Sub Division, Chandel district from November25 till yesterday.
The series of medical camps was conducted by Moltuk Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) to address the medical needs, health issues and lifestyle related problems of villagers of Songyang village, Khangbarol village, Moltuk village and Parlon village.
During the camps held, approximately 257 villagers including 67 male, 83 female and 107 children were given free medical consultation, diagnosis and medicines.
Considering the medical needs of these villages which are localted at far flung areas deprived of any swift medical facilities or hospital or a Primary Health Centre, the Battalion initiated the medical camps.
Further, due to the poor road connectivity in these areas, majority of the villagers do not go to the hospital or Primary Health Centre for treatment when they get sick.
Following such reasons, a team of Moltuk Battalion took the initiative to provide medical attention to maximum villagers of these inaccessible villages of Chandel district.
During the camp, the Regimental Medical Officer (RMO) and his medical staff treated many patients and provided free medical consultation on various diseases and health related issues.
An awareness campaign and lecture on drug abuse and its adverse effects on society were also conducted.
The team of Moltuk Battalion motivated the villagers and youth to animate a healthy lifestyle to lead a happy and ailment free life.
For the social awareness of the locals, the Commanding officer of Moltuk Battalion also interacted with the chiefs and villagers and motivated them for the overall development of the region.
He also interacted with the youth about various avenues of employment available to them.
The Commanding officer also explained various Central Government schemes which can help in the development of the villages.
The villagers conveyed their heartfelt gratitude to Moltuk Battalion and Assam Rifles for extending the services and providing free medical treatment and medicines to the them.
