Awareness program on CM Green Manipur held at Makhan Center

Senapati, January 25 2021:
A One day Awareness programme on Chief Minister Green Manipur Mission was held at Conference Hall, St Xavier School Makhan Center in Senapati district, today.
The program was organised by Senapati Forest Division, Government of Manipur.
Addressing the programme, SP Peter Khrasi, IRS, Retired, Chairman, Commission for ST, Manipur State stated that Chief Minister Green Manipur Mission is one of the most important missions taken up by the Chief Minister.
He mentioned that cutting of trees causes top soil erosion, soil infertility and climate change and appealed to plant more trees and stop burning forest.
Lolee Leshiini Kriibve Mao, I/c RO/ Mao Range, Senapati Forest Division highlighted the Chief Minister Green Manipur (CM-GMM) and stated that the CM-GMM awareness programme is organised at three different places in Senapati district.
D John Sha, MFS, DFO/ Senapati Forest Division stated that Senapati District falls under hotspot biodiversity and overexploitation of trees decreases the quality of Forest.
He stressed on the importance of Wildlife and Environment and that we should protect and care for our environment.
First impact of losing forests will be scarcity of water, there is no substitute for water.
The programme was attended by A Pfokrehrii Khrasi, Higher Secondary Lecturer, Rev Fr Kholi Emmanuel Parish Makhan, K Amarjit Sharma, K Athilu, Khrasi Welfare Forum President Ngolu Athiku, Makhan villages Chairman and Secretaries, Makhan Women Unions and youths of the village.
