Pherzawl observes National Road Safety Month with awareness drive

Pherzawl, January 23 2026:
The Pherzawl District Administration on Friday observed the National Road Safety Month, 2026, by organising public awareness drives, enforcement activities and community outreach programmes under the theme "Road Safety, Life Safety" .
The observance, held at the district headquarters and Bukpi village, was organised in collaboration with the District Police and the District Transport Office (DTO) .
At the programme at the district headquarters, ADC Joel G Haokip stressed the importance of strict adherence to traffic rules, stating that the core objective of Road Safety Month is to create awareness among road users, particularly drivers, to reduce accidents and save lives.
As part of the campaign, helmets, road safety pamphlets and stickers were distributed to the public, while posters and hoardings were installed at key locations to sensitise commuters and pedestrians.
Poster-making and quiz competitions were organised in schools at the district headquarters to encourage public participation, especially among youth.
The event was attended by several district-level officials, including SDPO Parbung Jangkholen Haokip, along with officers and staff from the Deputy Commissioner's Office, District Police and the DTO .
Meanwhile, addressing a gathering at Bukpi village, Deputy Commissioner Mannuamching expressed satisfaction over the operationalisation of the District Transport Office in Pherzawl.
She stated that the newly opened DTO would provide essential services such as issuance of driving licences and vehicle registration, and urged residents to avail themselves of these facilities locally.
