Imphal, April 17 2025:
As observed across the globe, World Hemophilia Day 2025 was observed today at JNIMS A-Block, Department of Medicine.
The event aimed to spread awareness about the bleeding disorder and teach patients suffering from hemophilia the practice of self-infusion which involves patients administering their own factor replacement therapy intravenously using a needle.
20 hemophilia patients participated in the event organised by Intas Foundation.
Speaking in this connection, Dr Irom Anil, Associate Professor, Department of Medicine, JNIMS informed that this year World Hemophilia Day is being observed under the theme "Access for All: Women and Girls Bleed Too" to ensure that women also remain aware of the disorder.
He highlighted the benefits for patients to learn "self-infusion" as both a time and labour saving effort while adding that patients aged 15/16 years are old enough to learn this procedure.
Adding that there are roughly 60 hemophilia patients in the State, Dr Irom Anil urged people to seek treatment if they bleed unusually.
